Kąty Węgierskie
Kąty Węgierskie is an old village whose buildings developed along today’s ul. Kościelna and ul. Strużańska. A census from 1807 listed 90 inhabitants, one well and small farms. The much older history of the area is confirmed by 21 archaeological sites with traces of settlement from prehistory to the early Middle Ages.
In August 1920, Red Army units reached Kąty Węgierskie – one of the furthest points of their advance towards Warsaw. The village’s link with the Battle of Warsaw is commemorated by a plaque presented on the 100th anniversary of the fighting.
Small religious monuments have also survived in Kąty Węgierskie. At the junction of ul. Strużańska and ul. Kościelna stands a brick wayside shrine with a statue of Our Lady, and on ul. Kościelna there is a cross linked with the old custom of accompanying the dead on their way to the church and cemetery in Nieporęt. There is also a wooden cross on ul. Przyleśna.
