Rynia Marina
Rynia Marina is a small, family-run harbour at ul. Główna 45 in Rynia, next to the mouth of the Rządza River where it flows into the Zegrze Reservoir. The marina offered seasonal moorings and winter boat storage, and the Paszek family also ran motorboat training courses here.
The marina’s most distinctive feature is a steel LCT Mark 5 landing craft. Researchers suggest it may be the American vessel LCT-2135, built in 1942, which probably took part in the Allied landing on Utah Beach in Normandy. This identification, however, is based on circumstantial evidence and the craft’s structural features.
In 1958 the vessel was converted into a floating theatre with seating for about 200 people, a stage and a dressing room. Years later it was taken over by the Warsaw University of Technology, and in the autumn of 1980 the barge was towed to Rynia. Today it serves as the marina’s base, combining the history of the Second World War, a post-war touring theatre and sailing on the Zegrze Reservoir.
