Dzika Plaża (Wild Beach)
Dzika Plaża (Wild Beach) in Nieporęt is one of the most popular and largest bathing areas on the Zegrze Reservoir in Masovia. Despite its name, it is a well-equipped recreation complex offering both lazy relaxation and plenty of activities.
The beach is supervised – during the bathing season (usually from mid-June) lifeguards keep swimmers safe. You can spread out a blanket, go for a swim, or make use of the pier, footpaths, playground, outdoor gym and bike and kayak rental.
Dzika Plaża is also a good starting point for bike rides along the shore of the reservoir – towards Białobrzegi, Rynia or other corners of Nieporęt Municipality. Nature lovers can enjoy birdwatching; the beach has a special bird-feeding machine known as the “Bird Inn” (Ptasia Karczma) or “duck-o-mat” (kaczkomat).
The Zegrze Reservoir was created in 1963 by impounding the waters of the Narew near the mouth of the Bug. Beaches, marinas and holiday resorts grew up around the reservoir, and Dzika Plaża became one of its key recreation spots.
It can get lively here in summer, but early mornings and the off-peak season offer a calmer atmosphere. Outside the bathing season, the beach also attracts winter swimming enthusiasts – the local “walruses” (morsy) meet here regularly.
Its location close to Warsaw (just a few dozen kilometres away) makes Dzika Plaża an easily accessible spot for a day trip, a family outing or a moment of relaxation by the water.
