The John Casimir Oak
The John Casimir Oak is a mighty pedunculate oak growing at the edge of the forest in Dąbkowizna. It is about 22 metres tall, its trunk is almost 5 metres in circumference, and it is estimated to be around 400 years old.
The tree’s name refers to John Casimir’s links with Nieporęt. The king – first as a prince and later as ruler of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth – is said to have visited the area and relaxed near the royal hunting lodge. The oak, which remembers those times, is today a living witness to history and to the nature of Masovia.
You can reach the tree along forest tracks and the blue, yellow and red cycling trails. Dąbkowizna station is nearby, making the oak a good destination for a walk or a short bike ride.
